Day-trip to Agia Napa

If you did not choose the Napa area for your stay in Cyprus, then you have to visit the place. A comfortable one day trip starts with a swim at Nissi Beach, then you continue on the coast road to Protaras and visit Cape Greko. At Cape Greko (or Cavo greko) there are really 3 places to visit. The Caves, the View point and the Chapel (It's a little church, if you are lucky and you arrive in the afternoon hours you can even see a wedding on a weekend day). The Chapel and the Caves are also both popular dive sites. For the afternoon its definitely worth to visit Konnos bay (3 km after Cave Grecko) one of the best beaches of Cyprus. For a light evening meal we suggest to stop at Syrene Bay.

Sea Caves

Visit the caves if you want to see divers risking their lives or perhaps try a jump yourself :-) If you are a diver, this area also has beautiful underwater creatures. If you are patient you can spot a variety of aquatic life such as stingrays, lobsters and the most popular, but menacing looking, fish the grouper. There are some dive sites around the caves that are a bit difficult to reach. Be careful though, there are some dangerous currents around this area. Even if you dont dive its worth visiting the caves just to look around.. The sea caves lie off the Ayia Napa - Protaras  coast road. Follow the road to Protaras and take the first road to Cavo Grecko. About 150m along the road there is a small dirt road with a sign post to the caves. A paved walking path goes along the shore. The shore is very rocky and sharp, take comfortable shoes with thick sole.

The view point is one of the best places to visit in Cyprus. You simply go back to the asphalt road after the caves and follow the sign which says "View point". On the way here you will see a tree on your right side, which is possibly the most photographed tree on Cyprus. The place is famous for its fabulous scenery and national park. Try to come here at sunset and you will see an amazing sight. On your left side you will see a base, it is used by the US as a radio station to the arabic world. More to this subject you will find in this pdf .

The location of this chapel gives it its charm. A popular place for getting married in Cyprus. Behind the tiny church you will find a spot from where people dive into the water. The maximum depth of the water is 23m. Marine life that can be seen here includes octopus and starfish. Its about 2 km after the view point. Follow the sign "Cape Greko".

Sirena Bay

Between Ayia Napa and Protaras, Sirena Bay is a tiny secluded beach with guesthouse and a taverna. The taverna is one of my favorites in Cyprus. A small, quirky, chilled out and rustic place, tucked away in a sleepy little bay like a secret. The atmosphere is amazing even if they have live music only occasionally. You can take a break from sunbathing and enjoy splendid views across the sea while dining under trees. The menu is quite short with tsipoura, kalamari, octopus and pork shops as main dish (all of them very good) and some side dishes but its not the food we come here for it is the atmosphere.
