Larnaca - General
Larnaca is situated on the southern coast of Cyprus. The island's largest airport, Larnaca International Airport is located on the outskirts of the city. It has a population of 72,000 (2001) and is the island's second commercial port as well as being an important tourist resort.
Off the promenade you will find many cafes and shops for almost everything you need. Popular British chain stores can be found here including The Body Shop, Marks & Spenser and Debenhams
Beaches
There are two main beaches in Larnaca: The main beach off the Finicouthes (Palm Promenade) and Governers beach located closer to the airport. The water here is usually warmer than elsewhere because the sea is quite shallow. Governers beach has better quality and more golden sand. The sand on the main beach is greyish in colour and although the beach is kept clean, the sand colour is a little off-putting at first.
